To get started, use the guide below to help you find out exactly what changes need to be made and how you can make them effectively. With the right plan and the right professionals on your side, pursuing a bathroom remodel project or building your own handicap-safe home with the help of an architect is easy. If you need to renovate the bathroom(s) in your home for yourself or a family member or if you are shopping around for a house and can’t seem to find one that features handicap bathrooms, the good news is that disability modifications are simple when you know what changes need to be made to create a more accessible bathroom design. It is important to note that these spaces don’t have to sacrifice style or elegance! Home renovations must be made so that these users can safely navigate their bathroom space as well. Modern bathrooms may be fully functional and aesthetically pleasing for young homeowners and renters, but these styles are not always safe for elderly or disabled individuals. The purpose of this article is to show you tips and points to consider when designing safe and comfortable bathrooms that will reduce the chances of unpleasant events.A handicap bathroom is vital for people who have recently fallen or were diagnosed with a chronic condition that resulted in a mobility issue. It is important to mention that each country has standards for accessible bathroom dimensions and safety features, whether for wheelchair users or people with reduced mobility. Another available solution is the installation of sensors in the rooms and in the occupant itself, using automation, as already discussed in this article. It is important to place this device in a very accessible location near the floor so that it can be used even when there is no possibility of getting up. They are often connected to telecare companies, who will quickly assess what precautions to take. Doorbells, alarms and emergency buttons are important in case the elderly person needs to signal a problem. Image © Stéphane ChalmeauĮven when all these precautions are taken, it is always important to predict the worst possible scenario, such as an accident. Save this picture! Guardería + Residencia Tercera Edad / a/LTA. Of course, they should also be tightly attached to the floor or wall. They should end up being about 46 cm high. Thus, it is recommended that toilets are a little higher than the conventional height, which can be done by "wedging" the existing toilet. Ideally, they should be rubberized where they touch the floor so that they have sufficient friction with the surface and never slip.īecause of the reduction of muscle tone in the elderly, a higher toilet can ease the movement of sitting and especially getting up. Rugs, if not suitable, can also be a major cause of accidents. Some experts suggest that bathrooms have contrasting colors, for example if the walls or the floor contrast with the sanitary ware, to avoid confusion for elderly people with reduced vision. All kinds of floors have non-slip options such as ceramics, cementitious boards, epoxy, and rubberized floors that can work well for bathrooms. It is therefore imperative that the floor is made of a non-slip material. Image © Alfredo Prados Covarrubiasĭue to water, soap, and other toiletries, it is common for floors to become slippery in bathrooms. Save this picture! Residencia para Mayores en Mota del Cuervo (Cuenca) / GEED Arquitectos. A well-designed and spacious wheelchair-accessible bathroom also improves circulation, preventing falls and injuries from bumping into something. Even if the elderly still have the ability to walk, it is important to consider wheelchair use and the possibility of a caregiver when sizing spaces. Here are some things to keep in mind when designing toilets for older people:Īffordable toilets that comply with universal design standards generally serve the demands of the elderly, who are considered a group of people with reduced mobility. Making toilets safer is critical to reducing the risk of accidents and decreasing response time in the event of a fall. To provide more comfortable living conditions as users grow older, the environment must adapt to the new physical capabilities of its occupants. Although no one is immune to a slip after bathing, it is the elderly who suffer most from falls, and can often suffer serious injuries, sequelae, and functional limitations. Due to the natural reduction of reflexes and muscle mass, the higher the age group, the more prone to falls we become. There exist frequent reports of toilet accidents, as they are often located in tight and slippery places.

Solution for decoding the string contents efficiently (Python 3 no longer does this as it is terribly confusing.)Ĭheck the type of message and assuming it is indeed Unicode, works back from there to find where it was decoded (possibly implicitly) to replace that with the correct decoding. This implicit encoding step doesn’t use errors='replace', so if there are any characters in the Unicode string that aren’t in the default encoding (probably ASCII) you’ll get a Unicode EncodeError. decode() an a unicode string, Python 2 tries to be helpful and decides to encode the Unicode string back to bytes (using the default encoding), so that you have something that you can really decode. with open(path, 'rb') as f:Īlternatively, you can use decode() method on the file content and specify errors=’replace’ to resolve UnicodeDecodeError with open(path, 'rb') as f: You could do the same even for the CSV, log, txt, or excel files also. If you just specify only read mode, it opens the file and reads the file content as a string, and it doesn’t decode properly. In case of any other file formats such as logs, you could open the file in binary mode and then continue the file read operation. json.loads(unicode(opener.open(.), "ISO-8859-1")) Solution for Loading and Parsing any other file formats Hence try the following encoding while loading the JSON file, which should resolve the issue. Most likely, it might be encoded in ISO-8859-1. If you are getting UnicodeDecodeError while reading and parsing JSON file content, it means you are trying to parse the JSON file, which is not in UTF-8 format. Print(data.head()) Solution for Loading and Parsing JSON files import pandas as pdĭata=pd.read_csv("C:\\Employess.csv",encoding=''unicode_escape') If you are using pandas to import and read the CSV files, then you need to use the proper encoding type or set it to unicode_escape to resolve the UnicodeDecodeError as shown below. Solution for Importing and Reading CSV files using Pandas Let’s look at the most common occurrences, and the solution to each of these use cases. There are multiple solutions to resolve this issue, and it depends on the different use cases. UnicodeDecodeError: 'utf-8' codec can't decode byte 0x96 in position 2: invalid start byte Output Traceback (most recent call last): When it tries this, it encounters a byte sequence that is not allowed in utf-8-encoded strings (namely this 0xff at position 0). It is a decoding process according to UTF-8 rules. When importing and reading a CSV file, Python tries to convert a byte-array (bytes which it assumes to be a utf-8-encoded string) to a Unicode string (str). Since codings map only a limited number of str strings to Unicode characters, an illegal sequence of str characters (non-ASCII) will cause the coding-specific decode() to fail. The UnicodeDecodeError normally happens when decoding a string from a certain coding. What is UnicodeDecodeError ‘utf8’ codec can’t decode byte? If the provided file has some special characters, Python will throw an UnicodeDecodeError: ‘utf8’ codec can’t decode byte 0xa5 in position 0: invalid start byte. The UnicodeDecodeError occurs mainly while importing and reading the CSV or JSON files in your Python code. They shun contact with all creatures, use primitive clubs, and are very strong for their size. Mudents are half wild animal and half humanoid. The only part about them that makes them easy to kill is the fact that even though they will attack you originally at fast speeds, there is a delay time in between their attacks which allows you to attack four times before they attack again, which is enough to kill them. They can kill a nomad or scavanger in about 4 shots, and because they are extremely aggressive and because the whole pack of 3 or more will attack you at the same time, you will most likely be killed if you attack them alone. Out of all of the npcs, Gerkats are most likely the most annoying npcs to face in the beginning of the game, especially for beasts, because of their lack of blocks. Gerkats are very fast moving feline carnivores that prey on large and small creatures. Because of their high accuracy and dodging abilities, new players are killed often by them even though they should have been an easy kill. NEVER try to shoot a monkit to death unless you have amazing aim, your attacks will almost never hit since they are very hard to hit when they are strafing. If you see that they are going to throw an arrow at you when you are a human, block until you get close enough to it to melee it. They are relatively aggressive, and will attack you pretty fast. However, they can be deadly to Nomads and Scavengers if they happen to attack you before you realize it. They give 600 gold which is very good for such a fast kill. It also takes 2 swings from a Stalker or a Savage to kill them, and they are killed with one stroke by level 4 and higher Predators and Legionnaires. To kill them, they require only 2 melee attacks from either a Nomad or a Scavenger. They are essentially free gold, because of how easy they are to kill for any kind of player. Monkits are semi-intelligent primates that fight with simple spears, and are hostile to nearly all creatures unlike themselves. Because of this, Predators use them as stationary stamina refueling if the predator is using rabid. However, later in the game, they become very easy to kill, as a level 4 or above Savage or Stalker can kill them in one hit, and a Legionnaire or Predator can kill them in one shot regardless of level. They only take two melee attacks from a scavenger or a nomad, however, because of their very fast retaliation swing, you will most likely get hurt before killing them and only being rewarded with a measly 300 gold. Oschores are NPCs that can be very annoying at the beginning of the game. Oschores are large grazing birds that live in flocks, and are easily angered if approached. They play more of a comedic role than anything else. All units can take out a chiprel in one melee swing with the exception of a Chaplain, but with their limited amount of loot and stamina/health recovery, it isn't worth going out of your way to kill them. As my group becomes more familiar with the bosses and the game as a whole, the strategies will become more fine tuned so be sure to check back often. The main purpose of the guide is to lay the groundwork for mastering the raid and eventually unlock Raider, Epic Raider and the pinnacle of them all: Flawless Raider. The walkthroughs are divided up by boss and event, in the order that you will encounter them in the raid. So long as your Relic holder is fast and you’re aware of who’s being detained this should be an easy challenge to complete. This walkthrough is a supplement guide for the Destiny Trophy Guide and Road Map, that will assist everyone in succeeding in the Vault of Glass raid. You will want to designate someone on the damage team to deal with this if it happens, otherwise, the Templar will most likely teleport. The only tricky part is if the Relic holder gets detained. Typically you will only need to block 2-3 teleports before the Templar is defeated. This means you’ve denied where it can go and will remain in the center for everyone to damage. Once you see the area it’s going to teleport appear, quickly dash to that location and stand in it until the circle vanishes. You will want to hang out somewhere in the middle so you can get a good view of all the potential warp locations. It’s up to the Relic holder to deny where the Templar is going to teleport. For the five Guardians, your job is simply to damage the boss as fast and as much as possible, while occasionally freeing anyone trapped by the Detain mechanic. Once you have defeated the first wave of Oracles, have the Relic holder break the Templar’s barrier to start the DPS phase. It’s just imperative that someone on your team is able to consistently apply the Breach and Clear debuff onto this boss. If you do not have Anarchy, using Null Composuer with High Impact Reserves is also a terrific option. Additionally, having a Warlock with Well of Radiance will make this much easier, allowing you to survive the Templar’s attacks during the damage phase. You will want to have anyone not carrying the Relic to equip Anarchy with the Breach and Clear mod, along with two slug shotguns such as First In, Last Out, and Heritage. When the challenge begins, designate one person to carry the Relic and two others to help when the Oracles spawn. Standing in this location while the Templar is attempting to warp will deny the teleport and make it stay in the center. You will know the Templar is trying to transport to this area because a big white circle will appear, along with a beam in the air. These spots are, top right, to the left by the staircase, back left, and back right near where the center Conflux spawns. This will not only cause the Templar to Detain someone but the boss will attempt to teleport to one of four pre-determined locations. The teleport mechanic triggers after the person carrying the shield shatters the Templar’s barrier. For many of you, this is basically the strategy you’ve been utilizing since the raid released. Perhaps the easiest challenge in the entire raid, all you need to do is complete the Templar encounter without it teleporting once. (Author’s Note: This guide is written under the assumption that you know the basics of the encounter.) Out of Its Way Challenge Here’s how to beat the Templar encounter’s “Out of Its Way” challenge in the Vault of Glass: Similar to previous Destiny 2 raids, there are also challenges you’ll need to complete if you want the Fatebreaker title. You’d insert the correct rotors and then… The rotors: The Enigma M1 had three rotors that the operator could choose from from a pool of 5, though this number was later increased to 8 (and a machine with 4 rotor slots was released toward the end of the war). The Enigma was constantly updated throughout the war, so the exact types of settings varied. To this end, the German military would issue sheets of daily Enigma settings that would be replaced at various frequencies – usually once a month. The Enigma only worked if both ends of the conversation were using the same settings. First, let’s see what you’d have to do to create and send an Enigma-encrypted message: Steps you should take to create and send an Enigma-encrypted message Check your settings The wartime Enigma could create trillions and trillions of potential combinations – too many for any contemporary methods to crack. The key to its power lay in the clever way that the inside was wired. But first, they had to figure out how it worked. Their seemingly unbreakable encrypted messages would direct army movements, aircraft raids, and the deadly U-boat submarines that terrorized Allied military and civilian ships on both sides of the Atlantic.Ĭracking the Enigma machine was key to gaining an advantage in WWII. The German military used the Enigma to great effect during WWII. As the operator typed each letter of their message into the machine, a letter on the board would light up to produce, letter by letter, a scrambled message. The machine looked like a typewriter, but instead of typing out letters on a sheet of paper, it had a board of lights with one light for each letter of the alphabet. It was initially created for commercial and diplomatic use before the war, but the government later began developing versions with more powerful encryption exclusively for the military. The Enigma machine was a keyboard that scrambled messages in a way that could only be unscrambled by someone using an identical machine with identical settings somewhere else. This was why the German government developed the Enigma machine. In a war where everyone can hear what you’re saying, you need to speak in codes to transmit secret information. However, it was easy for enemies to hear those messages as well. Radio waves enabled the nations of WWII to communicate with their troops over vast distances. Intercept an enemy’s message and you’ll know their moves before they do. The element of surprise is crucial in war.
